Blossom Festival
Yesterday was the Blossom Festival on Salt Spring Island and
a picnic in the Japanese Garden.
I prepared my loom with a “blossom warp” using the colours of cherry blossoms and some spring green.
At the event there were many Japanese things to see, do and listen to – calligraphy, haiku, music, aikido demonstrations, bento boxes, beautiful plants for sale
and of course SAORI weaving!
I had a lot of people come by to learn more about SAORI weaving and to try it out by adding to the Blossom Banner.
It was so great to be out again and sharing the joy of weaving with others!
Here is what has been done so far. I’m hoping to take the loom back out
to the Earth Day festival and have more people weaving.
Happy Weaving,
Terri

It looks like you had a great day at the Blossom Festival. The weather seems to have held for you – I guess we had all the stormy stuff here. Love the colours of the banner!
I love being out with my loom and talking with people about SAORI! The weather was good for most of the time, but got chilly and a bit of rain later.
Oh, my goodness, the cherry blossoms are just sooooooo gorgeous! And, it looks like it was sooooooo much fun!
I am in love with the cherry blossom warp- that is going to be one beautiful banner when it’s done 🙂
Heavenly- it all looks heavenly!
Thanks Noreen! I was just channeling cherry blossoms as I made the warp and chose the colours – I keep dreaming of being in Japan for Sakura – cherry blossom festival. So having a Blossom Festival here and being part of it with my SAORI loom and all things Japanese was good for the spirit!
Happy Weaving,
Terri
It looks like a wonderful event and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished banner too.
