Custom warp
Last week I enjoyed making a custom warp.
Tanya asked if I could make a warp for her based on a basket of yarns that she has. She wants to make a baby blanket for a friend. She asked for a wide, approximately 5 metre long warp, that is ‘stripe-y’. Yarns should be suitable for a baby blanket and be based on, but not limited to, the colours in her basket of yarns.
Here’s the basket of beautiful yarns…
So I made a warp in all cottons (her yarns are bamboo and cotton).
It is 240 threads wide and 5.5 metres long.
Here is the warp…
It was fun to make! I have asked Tanya if she could take a picture once it is on her loom and then the finished blanket as it will be fun to see the whole collaborative process.

The warp is so lovely Terri – thank you! I’m really excited to get to it but I’ve been so sick I haven’t even been able to say thank you yet!
Thanks for the cones as well – I feel very inspired to do some major weaving once I get back from my trip. It’ll be a good re-energizing activity after so much “out going” energy of the two conferences back to back.
I’m sorry you’ve been so sick – hope you feel much better really soon!
So glad that you like the warp and that you are inspired to weave! Yay!
Take good care
And Happy Weaving,
Terri
I love the colours. It’s perfect for a baby and looks like Spring! Can’t wait to see it on the loom.
Yes, once I saw it all together it reminded me of Easter colours. I loved Tanya’s basket of yarns – very inspiring.
Happy Weaving,
Terri
I love the colors and the warp. Can’t wait to see the finished baby blanket!
