Saori weaving with children
I have had many children enjoy Saori weaving at my studio, workshops and community events.
This year, I have two girls (6 years old) who have been coming to weave since September as part of their homeschooling. We have had such fun trying different things and weaving together.
They just made some great t-shirts with Saori weaving…
Stars – made with gold sparkle yarn…
Butterflies coming out of a pocket…
And a close-up …
The girls did the weaving and helped with the sewing. The little trail from the butterfly is “the path the butterfly took” and was sewn on with one of the fancy stitches on my sewing machine.
They have also done many other weavings in the past months. They started on the children’s loom, but are now using the full-size SX60 looms.
Happy Weaving,

Very cute pictures. How great they must feel to wear their own original designs. Most impressive creations for 6 year olds!

Please pass along my congratulations to them! They have done a wonderful job on their shirts!
It’s so exciting to see these young ladies immersed in their weaving!

I love the pictures of the girls with their tees. They did such wonderful designs and so different from each other.
Thanks Ellen, Noreen & Franky. It is such a delight to have them come each week to weave and try new things. They are very creative and love to try out the different yarns and textures. This past week they completed a scarf, a belt and a bag – I’ll post new photos soon.
Happy Weaving,
Terri
Sweet faces , nimble hands and budding weavers, how much fun it that? I’m so happy you share your talents.
Yes – isn’t that wonderful to see children enjoying weaving – I love it!
