“Sam I Am” – the rainbow cat

My homeschool students (age 6) have been weaving many things. Sometimes they like to have something that they can make during one class (2 hours), other times they work on something over a few weeks.

After weaving one day for about an hour, one young girl decided that she would like to make a stuffed animal with her weaving. First she thought – ‘maybe a monkey’, then changed her mind and decided it would be a cat.

She drew the picture of what she wanted it to look like and we started cutting, sewing and stuffing. And “Sam-I-Am” – the rainbow cat was born!

A couple of buttons for eyes – some gold cord for whiskers…

“Sam-I-Am” is sitting on some weaving done by her sister – who is making a soft cloth for a sweater for her expected little brother or sister.

Happy Weaving,

Yes it is adorable. When she came the next week, I asked her where ‘Sam-I-Am’ was – and she said ‘at home sleeping on my bed’. I love that.

It was so much fun watching her create it – I guess I’m loving the process part of it – which makes it easier to let it go once it’s done (and I have a photo of it!!).

    Happy Weaving,

What a cutie! I especially like the back view picture. I think Sam-I-Am’s body language says he is contemplating just how to get at the workings of the
    Saori loom. LOL!!
I’m looking forward to seeing a picture of the soft white sweater too.
