A Saori Tartan ??
One of the weavers at my studio has decided to weave her traditional tartan in an non-traditional way. The warp is set up with one repeat of the tartan sequence as found on a website (MacLachlan Tartans)…see the image here.
32 black, 32 blue, 6 green, 32 blue, 32 black, 4 red, 4 black, 4 red, 4 black, 32 red, 4 black, 4 red, 4 black
and she is weaving it in a Saori style.
I love the look of it and the whole idea of starting with something traditional and then making it in her own way.
Beautiful – I look forward to seeing the finished piece – which she plans to make into a sash!
Happy Weaving,
Terri

What an original take on a traditional tartan! Love the richness and texture of the weaving.

That is so creative and what a great way to use the traditional colors and weave it in the saori way.
Thanks Ellen & Franky! I’ll pass these comments on. I love seeing how people “look out with eyes that shine”!
Happy Weaving,

This is so neat! I have wanted to weave saori tartan for a long time- when DS got married 2 years ago, and I made the kilts, he wanted me to weave the tartans, too…. and I said only if I could weave Saori tartan! LOL! Perhaps some day….
I just love what your friend is doing! It’s GREAT!
