Weaving at the Kobe Saori Studio
Another studio that we visited was the Kobe Saori Weaving Studio. I have an interesting connection to Kobe – each year there are a group of high school students that come from Kobe to Salt Spring Island as part of an International Program. A few years ago I was invited to be one of the artists that the Kobe students had a chance to visit.
So now each year about 5 or 6 students from Kobe come to my studio to be introduced to Saori weaving. They are always surprised to learn that the origin is Japan. This year, I brought back brochures from the Kobe studio so that when they go home they might get to continue with Saori weaving!
Here are some great Saori weavings on display…
And here we are weaving. It was fun to be a student again and just weave as part of a class!
And here is the whole group that day…fun!
Happy Weaving,

I love the photos of all the beautiful bags and clothing, and of course, of the studio and seeing you weaving there! Magical!
Oh~~!! I see Teru-chan and her mom.
I have her big piece her in our studio. I love her work!
And of course, I see Itsuko (the head of the Kobe Studio).
I am glad you were able to visit Kobe, too. I love Kobe.
It was so inspiring to see the different studios and all the Saori works of so many people. Kobe was fun!
Happy Weaving,
Terri
Absolutely inspiring! Beautiful things to wear or just hang on your wall. You look radiant doing what you love!
It is nice to see the cloth made into bags! Once again, lovely photos.
