The fourth in my series “The Directions” is North / Red. It was interesting to gather up the yarns that I would use for this direction and realize that I didn’t have a lot of variety in the reds. Well, of course that meant I needed to go yarn shopping – not a hardship 🙂

It has been a while since I’ve posted about my Directions series. The yellow/east banner is long since finished, but then I was off to Japan, doing Saori weaving retreats and so haven’t posted about it.
So, here is the first post – EAST – and now here are some photos of the completed banner.

Now I’m back to working on the 4th direction – the North/Red.
Now I have completed the South banner of “The Directions” series and Alan has taken some great photos for me again! It continues to be interesting to explore weaving in one colour.
Though the one colour turns out to be anything but.
It gives me a chance to explore more subtle variations in tone and colour and to also explore texture in a different way.
South is the warm winds and the time of youth – all represented by the colour white.
