Bowls

Inspired by a link (which I will post when I find it again) sent to me by Chris (of Rawsome Coaching) I decided to crochet some bowls. I had a big skein of wool that I bought when I was in New Zealand and so I asked Tom if he would wind it into a ball for me…

Winding

…he uses a nostepinne and his hand was a blur (see this video for step-by-step instructions). This nostepinne was made by our good friends Noreen & Jim over at Crone-Findlay Creations.

I love to crochet while travelling or sitting and waiting for something. I don’t use a pattern, so each bowl is a different shape and size. Here is one bowl after crocheting…

Another one after felting in the washing machine and formed over a bowl to dry…

Since these photos, I have washed them once more and will run through a third time as I’d like to get them thicker and not showing the stitches so much….adventures in felting!

Happy Weaving, crocheting, knitting, spinning and all things fibre!

Peace Felt

I have been weaving Peace Banners for four years now and thoroughly enjoy it. It is always a collaborative event. Here is one that was completed on International Peace Day (Sept. 21) in 2007…

Peace Banner

This year, I read about Peace Felt and decided to participate. We were given the name of a person who would send us a package and also the name of a different person to send to. The peace would be passed in a circle.

I received my beautiful Peace Felt rug in the mail from Arizona…

Peace Felt

Of course, the cats had to check it out…

Peace Felt

I also received some wonderful hand looms called “Wee Walnut Weavers” and a lucet – all handmade by Kristi.

I sent off my package to Maryland. I made a bag with local Salt Spring wool from the Gulf Islands Spinning Mill. It is crocheted and then felted. I call it “Serenity”.

And so the circle of peace continues…

Peace to all,
Terri

Peace Felt

I came across this recently and have decided to participate:

Peace Felt

It will be another way to express peace and share it with others. I’m not sure what I’ll do yet, but I’m thinking that I will weave something and felt it – perhaps embellish it as well. More information here.

If you are interested in participating, the deadline for registration is August 1, 2010 and pieces will be sent in September to coincide with International Peace Day, September 21.

I will post photos in September of the piece that I complete and the one that I receive.

Let me know if you decide to participate.

Happy Weaving,
Terri
