Kamloops, BC – Saori Peace Banner

This past weekend I was invited to Kamloops, BC with my Saori loom for the weaving of a Peace Banner for the 10th anniversary of a Women’s Retreat with the Tk’emlups Indian Band.

It was great to be there and to meet all the women. Many of them came to try out Saori weaving and add to the Peace Banner (some came many times!).

Linda came on Sunday morning and said that she had an idea/dream in the night and wanted to weave the year 2011 into the banner. She said she kept thinking about it all night and so came to try it out. We talked about different ways to create this and she chose her colours and wove in ‘2011’.

I think it turned out great!

The banner will stay at the centre to be a memory of the weekend – it ended up being about 14 feet long!

Thanks for the invite – I really enjoyed it!

Happy Weaving,

    OOh I love that!

I’ve been thinking about specific shapes and things in larger weavings. I love your postcards and have been experimenting a bit with the idea of landscapes… and was thinking of an underwater world and how to create some of the things in there…
