Misao Jo’s 97th birthday celebration

The timing for our trip was wonderful in many ways. We happened to be in Japan and in Osaka for the celebration of Misao-sensei’s 97th birthday – what an honour to be there to celebrate with her.

We went to the Nakatsu studio along with about 50 other people and enjoyed music…

…puppet shows and speeches (even though they were all in Japanese)…

and an impromptu fashion show – by all the attendees!

We were able to meet Misao-sensei and talk to her, with the help of translators…

Oh my goodness- this must be the reason why you were meant to be in Japan when you were, and not when you first thought… it looks like a glorious celebration! So happy that you were part of it!

    Hi Terri,

We received the May SAORI report yesterday and there was an article on Misao-sensei’s B-Day celebration at SAORI-Osaka. All the participants picture was in the article. I found you and your friend in it!!
I am so happy that you were able to make it to Japan.
Now, Dan and I are excited having Sue-chan’s visit next month.
She is only here for a couple of days, but she will do a workshop for our studio.
Dan and I are SOOOO excited!
