“Cool Cross” Scarf

Earlier this month, Marie came to visit me and stay at Honeysuckle Cottage. Marie works at the Saori Headquarters in Osaka and so it was great to have her here and get to know her and share Saori with her at the studio.

She did some weaving in the studio – which is gorgeous! I can’t wait to see what her finished blouse will look like.

She joined in with some of my classes and wove with Sandi who was here visiting from Vancouver.

Marie had some fabulous Saori clothing that she wore including this skirt:

and a ‘cool cross’ scarf. Laura and I looked at it and examined it and Marie set up a warp for me and showed me how to make one.

It is indeed cool! (and difficult to get a good photograph of to show the cross). No longer is the weaving just flat – it makes a cross shape when it comes off the loom.

Thanks Marie – what fun!

Happy Weaving,
Terri

Wonderful! I love when weaving comes out of 2-D space. Would be very interested in learning more about the technique.

Sooooooo much inspiration here! The very first thing I am going to do after I make my winter landscape weaving, is to learn to warp with different colored yarns. The red piece is so much more interesting with the colored warps.

You must be on inspiration overload about now! Thank you for sharing all these stunning and imaginative weavings.

    Thanks Pam,

I guess that’s why one of the Saori slogans is “We learn from each other in the group”. How great it is to see what other people are doing and be inspired by it!

    Happy Weaving,
    Terri
